Yorgos Mavidis is a Greek photographer and director based in Thessaloniki. He is a graduate of the Film Department of the School of Fine Arts of Thessaloniki, where he completed an MA in Cinematography. His work varies in subject but places a strong emphasis on stillness and light itself. It also spans multiple media, ranging from medium format film and digital medium format photography to phone photography and instant film.
A photographic instant happens when the light inside me matches the surrounding light. A picture then becomes my way of telling the world: “This was my here and now. At this moment, in time and space, I was present.”
